YOUR FIRST AID KIT
1. Anesthetic spray (Bactrim) or lotion (Calamine, Campho-Phenique) - for itching rashes and insect bites.
2. Adhesive cloth tape (10 yards by 1 inch)
3. 5 antiseptic wipe packets
4. 2 packets of aspirin (81 mg each)
5. Oral thermometer (non-mercury/non glass),
6. 4" x 4" sterile gauze pads - for covering and cleaning wounds, or as a soft eye patch
7. 2", 3", and 4" Ace bandages - for wrapping sprained or strained joints, for wrapping gauze on to wounds, for wrapping on splints
8. 2 absorbent compress dressings (5 x 9 inches)
9. 25 adhesive bandages (various sizes)
10. 5 antibiotic ointment packets (approximately 1 gram)
11. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) - oral antihistamine for allergic reactions, itching rashes. Avoid topical antihistamine creams because they may worsen the rash in some people.
12. 2 pair non latex exam gloves - for infection protection, and can be made into ice packs if filled with water and frozen
15. Non adhesive pads (Telfa) - for covering wounds and burns
16. Pocket mask for CPR
17. Safety glasses
18. N95 masks
19. Reseal able oven bag - as a container for contaminated articles, can become an ice pack
20. Safety pins (large and small) - for splinter removal and for securing triangular bandage sling
21. Scissors
22. Super glue. (It’s called something else in the ER so they can charge a lot of extra money).
23. Duct tape
24. Triangular bandage - as a sling, towel, tourniquet
25. Tweezers - for splinter or stinger or tick removal
26. Chemical ice packs
27. Celox blood thickener/clotting
28. Cake frosting, candy, juice boxes for hypoglycemic/blood sugar related problems.
29. Flares
30. Flashlight
31. Tarp
32. Sharpie and paper (Mark the area around bug bite or other infection to see if it is growing in size.
33. Fire extinguisher
